TURKU, FINLAND OPENING 18 SEPTEMBER 2027 A NEW NORTHERN GRAND HOTEL
Our story / Hokankokan

A welcome with a sense of place.

Inspired by Finland's enduring relationship with light, nature and design, Hokankokan brings an intimate hospitality perspective to Turku's riverfront district.

About us

A harbour address with an independent spirit.

Hokankokan is conceived as a hotel for the curious traveller and the returning friend: a calm address with a confident point of view, where architecture, thoughtful hosting and a lively cultural calendar find a natural balance. The opening is scheduled for 18 September 2027. Every detail takes inspiration from the Turku archipelago and the poised character of classic European gathering places.

Our approach starts with what matters most to guests: restful rooms, human service, dependable comfort and the pleasure of discovering a place through its food, art and people. Textured interiors, warm timber tones, sculptural lighting and a palette of ink blue, soft chalk, terracotta and antique brass evoke a meeting between Nordic modernism and British heritage style.

We believe an outstanding stay is made from hundreds of modest gestures. A welcoming arrival after a long journey. A beautifully brewed coffee before the city wakes. A quiet corner for a conversation, or a dining room that turns a birthday into a family story. These moments guide the atmosphere we are shaping.

A hotel shaped by Turku and the archipelago

Turku is at once open to the world and deeply rooted in its own rhythms. Its riverfront restaurants, castle, maritime history, island routes, art and seasonal rituals inspire a hotel with character rather than a fixed formula. Hokankokan aims to celebrate those qualities through local collaborations, cultural programming and food led by Nordic ingredients.

The resort experience is designed for many ways of travelling: an anniversary weekend, a longer restorative escape, an international conference or a spontaneous city break. We want each guest to find their own version of the place, whether that means a secluded morning, a convivial dinner or an evening of music.

How we work

Respect is the beginning of good service. We aim for transparent communication, considerate privacy practices, inclusive guest experiences and accessibility planning from the earliest stages of development. Environmental decisions will be reviewed across procurement, maintenance, energy, water, waste and food operations, with priorities communicated without exaggerated claims.

As we prepare for opening, our focus remains on making a thoughtful first impression that can become a lasting relationship. Find out more about our accommodation vision, dining experiences and event spaces, or contact the team directly to discuss a future visit.

Privacy Policy

How Hokankokan approaches personal information, confidentiality, data retention and your choices.

1. Scope and responsible contact

This Privacy Policy applies to information processed through hokankokan.com and to guest enquiries submitted to Hokankokan in connection with its planned Turku opening. It describes our approach to personal data when you browse this website, contact us, request information about future accommodation or events, or communicate with our guest care team. For privacy matters, write to concierge@hokankokan.com or use the postal address Satamakatu 19, 20100 Turku, Finland.

2. Personal data we may collect

Depending on your interactions, we may process your name, email address, telephone number, preferred language, dates of interest, group size, accessibility or service requests that you voluntarily share, correspondence history, and other content contained in an enquiry. Basic technical information may include IP address, browser type, device characteristics, referral page, visit time and security-related diagnostics when these are collected by a hosting provider. We ask that you do not send identification documents, financial account credentials, card numbers or health details through the general contact form.

3. Sources and purposes

Information is usually obtained directly from you. It may also be provided by a person making an enquiry on your behalf or through technical logs generated when this site is delivered to your browser. We use appropriate data to reply to enquiries, assess requested services, plan guest experiences, maintain correspondence, protect systems, prevent misuse, comply with legal duties, and respond to legal or privacy requests. We do not use contact-form details to enroll you in marketing messages without a separate lawful basis.

4. Lawful grounds under the GDPR

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, our potential lawful grounds include taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract if one exists, complying with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in responding to correspondence, securing the website and administering operations. Where the law requires consent, including for non-essential tracking or optional electronic marketing, we seek it separately and allow withdrawal. Any legitimate-interest assessment must consider your rights and reasonable expectations.

5. Recipients and processors

Authorised guest care personnel may access only information needed for their work. Service providers such as email, hosting, cybersecurity and IT-support partners may process information under contractual controls and confidentiality obligations. We may disclose data to competent public authorities where lawfully required, or to professional advisers where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal information as a data brokerage activity.

6. International transfers

If personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area or another protected jurisdiction, we will assess the destination and rely on an applicable legal mechanism such as an adequacy decision, approved standard contractual clauses, or another authorised safeguard, together with supplementary measures where appropriate. Details of relevant transfers and safeguards may be requested using the privacy contact above.

7. Retention and deletion

We seek to retain personal information only for a period justified by its purpose. General pre-opening enquiries are normally reviewed for deletion or anonymisation within 24 months after the last substantive interaction, unless a booking, dispute, legal duty or ongoing request requires longer retention. Routine security and technical logs, where generated, are generally retained for shorter operational periods, often up to 90 days unless investigation or law requires otherwise. Contractual, accounting and tax records may be kept for applicable statutory periods, which may extend to seven years or longer where required. We periodically review these timeframes and securely delete or de-identify data when no longer necessary.

8. Security practices

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures proportionate to risk, including access restrictions, appropriate supplier review, data minimisation, protected communications, employee confidentiality and incident response processes. No online transmission or storage system is entirely risk-free. If a personal data breach requires notification under applicable law, affected individuals and relevant authorities will be informed within legally required timeframes.

9. Your rights

Subject to law and applicable exceptions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. We may need to verify identity before fulfilling a request and may ask for information necessary to locate the relevant records. We aim to answer valid GDPR requests within one month, subject to permitted extensions. You may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland or another competent supervisory authority.

10. Children and sensitive information

This website is not intended to solicit data from children and any age-restricted on-property facilities are for eligible adults only. We do not intentionally seek sensitive personal data through ordinary forms. If special assistance is needed, please initially describe practical requirements without supplying medical records or diagnoses. We will discuss an appropriate and more private method of communication where required.

11. Cookies, external links and communications

Information about browser storage and consent options is provided in the GDPR, CCPA & Cookies Policy. External links take you to third-party websites that operate under their own terms and privacy notices. If you email us, your email provider will process the message in accordance with its practices. Service correspondence is separate from optional marketing communications.

12. Updates and contact

We may update this policy to reflect service, technological or legal changes. Material changes will be indicated by revising the date at the top and, where required, by additional notice. For requests or questions, email concierge@hokankokan.com or write to Hokankokan, Satamakatu 19, 20100 Turku, Finland.

GDPR, CCPA & Cookies Policy

Additional privacy disclosures for European and California residents, along with clear information about consent and browser storage.

1. European data protection: GDPR

For individuals in the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation protects personal information and sets rules for lawful, fair and transparent processing. Hokankokan processes enquiry and website information only for identified purposes and on a lawful basis as detailed in our Privacy Policy. Those bases may be pre-contractual steps, contract, legal obligations, legitimate interests or consent when required. We apply data minimisation, purpose limitation, retention limits, security and accountability principles.

European rights and how to exercise them

Depending on the circumstances, you may obtain confirmation of processing and access to a copy of data; ask for correction of inaccurate records; request erasure when a legal basis for retention no longer exists; restrict certain processing; obtain qualifying data in a portable format; and object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing. You can withdraw consent without penalty. Send a request to concierge@hokankokan.com with the subject “GDPR rights request.” We may ask for reasonable identity verification. Generally, responses are provided within one month, with extensions where permitted for complex requests. Complaints may be lodged with the Finnish Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman or your local supervisory authority.

Transfers and automated decisions

Transfers to countries without an adequacy decision require an appropriate legal basis and safeguards, potentially including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and relevant assessments. We do not use this website to make decisions about guests based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Should this change, we will provide legally required information and safeguards.

2. California privacy: CCPA/CPRA

California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, to know or access categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion or correction, receive information about applicable disclosures, and opt out of a sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising where relevant. They may also have the right to limit use or disclosure of sensitive personal information in specified circumstances and to be free from unlawful discrimination for exercising their rights. These rights apply subject to statutory scope, thresholds, exceptions and verification requirements.

Categories and purposes

Within the preceding 12 months, categories that this website may process include identifiers such as names and email addresses; internet or network activity such as standard server logs if collected by the host; and commercial or preference information voluntarily included in an enquiry. Their sources, purposes and recipient categories are described in the Privacy Policy. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising through this single-page website, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information for unrelated secondary purposes.

California requests

To make a verifiable California privacy request, email concierge@hokankokan.com with “California privacy request” in the subject. Include the nature of the request and a method for us to reply. We may verify identity and, where the law permits, honour requests from an authorised agent after checking the agent's authority. We aim to acknowledge and respond within applicable CCPA periods, typically 45 days for a substantive response with permissible extensions. If sale or sharing practices change, this page will provide an appropriate opt-out method, including recognition of valid Global Privacy Control signals where applicable.

3. Cookie and storage notice

Cookies are small files stored by a browser; local storage is a related technology used to preserve limited preferences. This standalone website does not currently install advertising, analytics, social-media tracking or personalisation cookies. Its own optional preference interface stores a single browser-local record called hokankokan-consent-v1 to remember your cookie choice. That record contains a choice label and a timestamp, not your name or contact details. Standard hosting infrastructure may separately set strictly necessary security or delivery cookies, depending on deployment.

Categories of browser technologies

  • Strictly necessary: security, site delivery and preference-memory mechanisms needed to respect your choice. These do not require consent where legally exempt.
  • Analytics: optional performance measurement, which would require appropriate consent before activation where applicable. No such analytics scripts are embedded in this file.
  • Personalisation: optional features remembering non-essential display or service preferences. No such scripts are currently embedded.
  • Advertising and cross-site measurement: promotional profiling or advertising trackers, which are not embedded in this file.

Managing and withdrawing consent

On first visit, the cookie notice lets you record a preference for essential-only storage or open the preference panel. The “Cookie preferences” control in the footer lets you revisit and change that record at any time. Since optional trackers are not active, selecting a preference does not activate analytics or advertising. You may also remove this record using your browser's site-data settings. If non-essential tracking is introduced, it must remain disabled until valid consent is obtained where law requires it, and this notice must be updated to identify tools, purposes, providers and durations before deployment.

4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers may send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals. This page does not conduct a sale or advertising sharing that requires an opt-out, so there is no corresponding tracking to deactivate. If regulated selling or sharing is introduced, applicable opt-out preference signals must be honoured as required by law. Cookie restrictions set by your browser may affect preference persistence but should not prevent access to ordinary page content.

5. Contact and updates

For any EU, UK or California privacy matter, contact concierge@hokankokan.com or Hokankokan, Satamakatu 19, 20100 Turku, Finland. We may revise this policy when the website or applicable legal requirements change. The date above identifies the latest published revision. This page supplements, rather than replaces, the Privacy Policy.

Terms of Use

The conditions governing access to hokankokan.com, enquiries, site content and acceptable conduct.

1. Acceptance and scope

By using hokankokan.com, you agree to these Terms of Use and relevant laws. If you disagree, please stop using the website. These terms govern website access and general enquiries; they do not independently constitute a hotel reservation, dining reservation, event contract, admission entitlement or promise of availability. Specific services, once offered, may require separate booking conditions and confirmations.

2. Website information and opening

Hokankokan is scheduled to open on 18 September 2027. Descriptions of planned rooms, dining venues, facilities, programming and services reflect the intended guest experience and may evolve during preparation. Dates, concepts, availability, prices, menus and operating hours may change and are not binding unless confirmed in a separate written agreement.

3. Eligibility and local restrictions

The general hotel information on this website is available to a broad audience, but any age-restricted venue or activity is accessible only to people meeting the applicable legal minimum age and identity-verification requirements. The website is not a means of entering any age-restricted activity. Visitors are responsible for complying with rules applicable to them in their location. Additional venue rules and lawful identification checks may apply on the premises.

4. Permitted use

You may browse, print or save limited portions of the site for personal, non-commercial reference. You must not interfere with site operation, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, scrape information at disruptive scale, misrepresent identity, submit fraudulent requests, infringe intellectual property, or use contact channels for harassment, unlawful promotions or spam. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect people, systems or rights.

5. Intellectual property

The Hokankokan name, layout, text, original graphics, design elements and other website materials are protected to the extent permitted by applicable intellectual property law. Viewing the site does not grant a licence to reproduce or commercially exploit protected content. Third-party names, organisations and linked resources remain the property of their respective owners. Brief personal references to the site may be made without implying an endorsement.

6. Enquiries and communications

Submitting the contact form opens an email draft in your device's email application. An enquiry is not delivered unless you send that draft. We cannot guarantee that communications are received, read or answered within a particular period. Do not submit payment card information, passwords, official identity documents, unlawful materials or unnecessary sensitive details. We may retain relevant correspondence in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. Future reservations and transactions

Any future room, dining, meeting or event reservation will be governed by the price, inclusions, payment arrangements, cancellation conditions and house rules expressly presented at the time of booking and confirmed through the appropriate channel. No purchase or advance payment is enabled by this standalone webpage. Do not send funds based solely on an unverified communication claiming to represent Hokankokan; use the contact details published here to clarify a request.

8. External websites

This website may link to independent organisations, including support services. Those sites are not controlled by Hokankokan. Links are provided for convenience and do not constitute warranties about third-party content, service availability or data handling. Review the terms and privacy practices of external services before using them.

9. Availability and security

We aim to keep website content usable and reasonably accurate but do not guarantee continuous, secure or error-free access. Scheduled maintenance, network faults, device limitations and events beyond reasonable control may interrupt availability. You are responsible for reasonable protection of your own devices and communications. We may change or withdraw website features when necessary.

10. Liability and consumer rights

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hokankokan does not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses arising solely from use or inability to use publicly provided site information. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or intentional wrongdoing, or limits mandatory consumer protections. Where a separate service contract applies, its lawful terms govern the relevant transaction.

11. Privacy and cookies

Personal information and browser storage are addressed in our Privacy Policy and GDPR, CCPA & Cookies Policy. Use of email and browser technologies may also involve independent providers subject to their own terms.

12. Governing law, disputes and changes

These website terms are governed by Finnish law, without displacing mandatory protections applicable to consumers in their place of residence. Disputes should first be raised through concierge@hokankokan.com so an informal resolution can be explored. If that is unsuccessful, competent courts or other legally available dispute-resolution channels may be used. We may revise these terms at any time; continued website use after publication of changes signifies acceptance to the extent permitted by law.

Responsible Gambling

Practical boundaries, confidential support and clear self-exclusion guidance for adults.

1. Keep entertainment in perspective

Responsible gambling means making a conscious choice about whether to participate, understanding the risk of financial loss and retaining full control over time and spending. Set a firm budget before beginning and use only disposable funds that are not required for rent, bills, food, childcare, debt repayment or savings goals. Decide how long you are comfortable spending and take regular breaks. Never chase losses, borrow to continue, or increase spending in an attempt to recover money already lost.

2. Situations when you should not participate

Do not gamble while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, when distressed, exhausted, under pressure, or when gambling might damage your relationships or financial security. Avoid gambling if you are under the legal age, subject to an active self-exclusion, or advised by a health professional to abstain. If you have concerns about control, a complete break is preferable to relying on a spending limit alone.

3. Signs of harm

Warning signs can include concealing losses; repeatedly spending beyond planned limits; anxiety or irritability when unable to gamble; neglecting work, sleep or relationships; using credit or essential funds; or feeling compelled to return after losing money. Family members may notice secrecy, unexpected debts, withdrawal or changing moods. These signs call for support, not shame. Professional help can benefit both affected individuals and their loved ones.

4. Requesting a break or self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is a formal request to stop participating in gambling for a defined period or, where available, indefinitely. Before the property opens, requests for information can be sent to concierge@hokankokan.com with the subject “Confidential self-exclusion enquiry.” Once relevant on-premises services operate, guests may request assistance from trained staff or a designated responsible-gambling contact. Do not submit personal identification documents by unsecured general email.

How the process should work

  1. Make a request: clearly state that you want to self-exclude or restrict access to gambling areas. Ask for a private conversation if you prefer.
  2. Confirm identity through a secure channel: staff may need to verify who is requesting exclusion and explain any lawfully required documentation.
  3. Understand the duration and scope: request written information about applicable minimum periods, covered premises, access restrictions and re-entry rules under local law.
  4. Reduce triggers: ask to stop related promotional contact where relevant and consider blocking tools, bank transaction limits and support from trusted people.
  5. Seek independent help: contact a specialist support organisation while your exclusion is in effect. Do not assume that an exclusion from one location automatically extends to others.

Self-exclusion is a meaningful protective measure, but no single control replaces professional support. Reinstatement, if permitted, should never be automatic or assumed; applicable rules, cooling-off requirements and verification procedures must be followed. If you are already excluded elsewhere, tell the appropriate service provider and do not attempt to bypass that exclusion.

5. Practical protective steps

  • Keep a written record of discretionary spending and time spent gambling.
  • Use bank-supported blocks on gambling transactions when available, and consider independent website-blocking tools for online exposure.
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member about a break you intend to take.
  • Seek free, confidential advice before debts or conflicts escalate.
  • If you are concerned about someone else, offer support without paying off debts in a way that enables continued gambling.

6. International support organisations

Independent assistance is available. The following organisations provide confidential information or can help you locate services suited to your circumstances. Availability, languages and local telephone access can vary.

7. Families, financial wellbeing and urgent concerns

Gambling-related harm can affect relationships, mental health and household finances. Family members and friends can seek independent counselling even when the individual involved is not ready to do so. Consider contacting a licensed debt adviser or healthcare professional for tailored support. If there is immediate danger, a threat of self-harm or a medical emergency, contact the emergency number in your current country; within Finland and the EU, call 112.

8. Our wellbeing commitment

Hokankokan encourages informed decisions, clear rules and early intervention. Any future on-property age-restricted activity will be subject to applicable law, local operating conditions and responsible-participation procedures. Questions or concerns can be directed privately to concierge@hokankokan.com. Seeking assistance will not affect a guest's dignity or access to unrelated general hospitality services, subject to safety and legal requirements.

01 / An invitation to the coast

Arrive curious.
Leave restored.

There is a particular kind of comfort that comes from a place with nothing to prove and everything considered.

Hokankokan is taking shape as a distinctive hotel resort in Turku, where Finland's old maritime city meets the extraordinary landscape of its archipelago. Our planned opening on 18 September 2027 introduces a welcoming destination for people who want more from a stay than a room key and a timetable. Think abundant natural light, generous spaces to linger, carefully prepared food and a team that remembers the small things.

The spirit is unmistakably northern but never austere. Finnish modernist clarity meets the easy warmth of a British country-house gathering place: ink-blue upholstery, tactile timber, unfussy floral arrangements, brass details and colours borrowed from late-summer sunsets. A stay might begin with a quiet coffee and a view of the harbour, move into an afternoon of galleries and waterside walking, and end with a candlelit dinner that feels entirely its own.

We are creating a destination for different rhythms of travel. Come for a weekend of uninterrupted conversation, a restorative short break, a creative working retreat or a milestone worth bringing people together for. Explore Turku from a comfortable base, or keep your itinerary gloriously simple and let the hotel become the occasion.

02 / Rooms with a point of view

Rest beautifully.
Wake up somewhere memorable.

Comfort is personal. Our accommodation vision makes space for deep rest, easy routines and the pleasure of having nowhere else you need to be.

The essentials, elevated

Harbour Rooms

Designed for solo explorations and relaxed couples' escapes, these rooms combine calming colours, practical layouts and welcoming furnishings. Considered lighting and useful work surfaces create an atmosphere that suits both a slow start and a purposeful morning.

Room for more

Archipelago Suites

For longer stays and special occasions, the suite concept brings an added sense of privacy, comfortable places to read and unwind, and thoughtful separation between sleeping and lounging. A generous setting makes a second coffee or late conversation feel natural.

Together, comfortably

Family & Connecting Stays

Families and friends deserve arrangements that make togetherness easy without giving up personal space. Our plans consider flexible sleeping configurations, intuitive storage and assistance in matching accommodation to each group's requirements.

Across room categories, the underlying principles remain the same: excellent sleeping comfort, useful rather than decorative amenities, simple-to-understand controls and materials that feel good to live with. We favour warm lamps over harsh glare, meaningful bedside space over clutter and enough outlets for the realities of modern travel. Guests should be able to settle in without a learning curve.

Specific layouts, views, in-room services, accessibility provisions and reservation terms will be confirmed ahead of opening. If you are considering a longer visit or have a practical requirement, our team welcomes an early conversation. The aim is to make the right room feel like it was always meant for you, rather than asking you to adapt your plans to the hotel.

03 / Restaurants worth travelling for

Come hungry.
Stay for the conversation.

Our approach to dining begins with seasonal ingredients, sincere hospitality and the simple delight of eating something wonderful together.

Food culture in southwest Finland rewards curiosity. Our dining philosophy will draw on that energy without turning local ingredients into a performance. Root vegetables, mushrooms, berries, fresh herbs, breads, carefully sourced fish and seasonal preserves offer a wonderful starting point for menus that feel generous and direct. We value clear flavours, a hospitable room and the confidence to let a beautiful ingredient speak for itself.

We also know the best service is flexible. One guest may want a leisurely tasting menu while another needs a satisfying early dinner before a concert. Families appreciate practical choices; friends catching up want an atmosphere where the conversation can continue. Our team intends to welcome those different expectations with equal care. Final restaurant concepts, menus, opening hours and availability will be announced as the opening approaches.

04 / Bars & evening rituals

A good evening
needs room to unfold.

A lively bar can become the best address in a city for an hour, an evening or a familiar return.

At Hokankokan, we imagine two different moods for drinks and conversation. The Chart Room is a sophisticated lounge with comfortable corners, considered music and the timeless pleasure of arriving early for an aperitif. Its menu will centre on thoughtfully prepared drinks, Finnish-inspired ingredients, quality coffee and delicious alcohol-free alternatives. The service should make everyone feel equally welcome, whether ordering a celebratory cocktail or a sparkling botanical refreshment.

The Lookout Bar takes its inspiration from the changing evening light. Designed as an easy place to meet before dinner or settle into after a long day, it pairs warm materials with a vibrant social atmosphere. Visitors will find room for relaxed conversation, small savoury accompaniments and the pleasant surprise of a night that lasts a little longer than expected.

Both settings will favour genuine hospitality over needless ceremony. Drinking is always optional; character, good company and the soundtrack of the room do most of the work. Details of opening hours, beverage service and age requirements will be available closer to launch. Our ambition is simple: to give Turku more places that people genuinely enjoy spending time in.

Ask about evenings and events ↗
05 / A quieter pace

Make time feel generous.

The luxury of a refreshing stay often lies in the space between plans. Our wellness vision is grounded in Finnish habits of warmth, renewal and time outdoors.

I.

Warmth and pause

Finland's sauna tradition reminds us that wellbeing does not need elaborate language. It begins with stepping away from noise, warming up, resting and returning to the day with fresh perspective. The planned spa and relaxation experience will honour that simplicity with a calm atmosphere and an emphasis on comfort.

II.

Movement, your way

Some guests find restoration in gentle stretching or an early walk; others prefer purposeful exercise before breakfast. Our wellness plans are being shaped around flexible routines and practical information, supporting personal goals without prescribing a single ideal way to feel well. We will publish confirmed facilities as they become available.

III.

Nature close at hand

Turku encourages a different sense of time. Riverside paths, historic gardens and the nearby archipelago offer opportunities for fresh air and a change of scene. Guests can create their own gentle itinerary with a walk, a ferry trip, an afternoon of reading or simply an uninterrupted window beside the water.

Rest also belongs in the everyday guest experience, not only in a dedicated treatment room. It lives in a comfortable mattress, in-house dining that does not feel rushed, a welcoming chair near a window and staff who respect the desire for privacy. We aim to make it easy to balance togetherness with moments alone. Travellers arranging an anniversary, recovery-focused break or low-key city escape are encouraged to share what helps them feel most comfortable.

Wellness is personal and requirements vary. Any treatments, thermal areas and fitness provision will be subject to published schedules, safety guidance and suitability conditions once confirmed. Nothing should feel compulsory: a peaceful breakfast and a walk along the river can be a complete itinerary in themselves.

06 / Moments that bring us together

A setting for stories
you will tell again.

Exceptional gatherings need atmosphere, careful planning and a team that is genuinely interested in the people at the centre of the occasion.

01

Weddings & celebrations

From heartfelt anniversaries to joyful wedding weekends, we imagine occasions in which every part of the visit works together. Welcoming rooms for travelling guests, a graceful dinner setting, thoughtful refreshments and time to reconnect can make the whole weekend feel like one beautiful event. Planning begins by listening to your priorities, traditions and preferred pace.

02

Meetings with purpose

A productive meeting deserves natural light, clear communication and a programme that leaves room for human connection. Our developing event offering considers leadership gatherings, creative workshops and focused conferences, with practical layouts, refreshment breaks, technology planning and straightforward support for organisers. The best event spaces help people think clearly and enjoy the hours they spend together.

03

Private dinners & reunions

When everyone has travelled to share a table, the setting should feel special without becoming intimidating. Smaller celebrations call for careful menus, comfortable seating and service that senses when to step forward and when to disappear. Whether the reason is a birthday, graduation or long-overdue reunion, we aim to make the preparation feel as enjoyable as the occasion.

04

Culture in good company

Turku is a city of festivals, music, books and art. Our broader event vision includes an evolving programme of intimate cultural moments and partnerships informed by the local calendar. We want visitors to discover something that stays with them, while giving residents a reason to return even when they are not checking in for the night.

Planning a future occasion? Share your preferred date, approximate guest count, format, budget considerations, dietary requirements and accessibility needs. Our guest services contact is available for early conversations, while specific capacities, packages and arrangements will be confirmed before bookings are accepted.

07 / Explore southwest Finland

Old streets.
New perspectives.

Turku has an extraordinary talent for feeling historic and completely current at the same time.

Finland's oldest city rewards the traveller who takes a little extra time. The Aura River winds past cafés, restaurants and cultural landmarks, while Turku Castle and the cathedral connect everyday city life to centuries of history. Independent shops, contemporary galleries and local markets add a lively modern layer. It is a place that invites exploration without asking visitors to race from landmark to landmark.

Beyond the city, the archipelago opens into a world of islands, pine forests, quiet harbours and long Nordic horizons. Day trips can be as simple as an excursion by ferry, a seaside meal or a scenic walk. In the warmer months, daylight stretches into the evening; autumn brings rich colour and a gentler tempo; winter asks for cosy interiors and bracing walks. Every season offers its own reasons to stay.

We intend Hokankokan to be a thoughtful gateway to this region. Guests may wish to build a programme around design, food, history or outdoor time, while others will prefer one rewarding excursion and a long afternoon back at the hotel. Our team can help discuss interests and practical travel questions; specific activities and transport services will depend on seasonal availability.

A DIFFERENT SORT OF ESCAPE
ARCHIPELAGO STATE
OF MIND.
08 / People first

Good hosting is in the details.

Considerate hospitality is rarely loud. It is the feeling that things work well, and that someone has thought about your day.

01

Travelling together

We welcome enquiries from couples, friends, families and multigenerational groups. Different travellers need different things: a practical arrival, useful child-friendly arrangements, a restful corner or enough flexibility to gather without crowding one another. Thoughtful advance communication helps shape a more comfortable visit for everyone.

02

Accessibility and clarity

Our ambition is to offer clear information about routes, room features, communication options, food requirements and event access. Rather than making assumptions, we encourage guests to describe what is useful to them. Confirmed specifications and available assistance will be provided as the property prepares to open.

Room to be yourself

Some people travel to celebrate; others arrive after a long day and want a quiet place to settle. Neither is more important. We hope to build a hotel culture that welcomes both, with attentive service, discretion and the confidence to make guests comfortable without intruding on their time.

We also want the property to feel connected to its neighbourhood. Local partnerships, responsible purchasing decisions, staff development and respectful relationships with community organisations form part of our long-term thinking. Meaningful progress comes from decisions that can be measured and improved, not from ambitious statements made before the work has begun.

As opening day approaches, our teams will continue developing guest information, operating procedures and the services that make a stay easy to navigate. We look forward to learning from the questions visitors ask and to making our answers more useful over time. Great hospitality is not a final design; it is a habit of paying attention.

09 / Before you visit

Good things to know.

A few straightforward answers as the hotel prepares for its first season.

When does Hokankokan open?

Our planned opening date is 18 September 2027 in Turku, Finland. Details of confirmed room categories, dining schedules, access arrangements and any future booking availability will be communicated as preparations progress.

Can I ask about a future stay?

Yes. Use the contact form, email or direct telephone details to make an early enquiry. An enquiry does not create a reservation or guarantee availability, rates or services.

Will the hotel host private events and dinners?

Private occasions, group dinners and meetings are central to our planned hospitality offering. Please share potential dates, guest numbers, the preferred format and any special considerations so our team can provide appropriate information.

Do you have options for families or visitors with accessibility needs?

Our accommodation and guest service plans consider a variety of travel needs. Please contact guest services to discuss your situation. Specific room features and accessibility provisions will be confirmed before opening.

Will menus include alcohol-free and dietary choices?

Our dining philosophy includes thoughtful alcohol-free drinks and consideration of dietary requirements. Final menus, ingredient guidance and arrangements will be communicated by the dining team as the opening approaches.

Where can I find privacy and guest policies?

You can read our Privacy Policy, GDPR, CCPA & Cookies Policy, Terms of Use and Responsible Gambling information from the links in the footer.
